Skandar Keynes Plans Visit to the Galapagos

skandar sebastian galapagos lonesome george darwin evolutionSkandar Keynes announced on his official website, two days ago, that he will visit the Galapagos Islands in April. He will also see his namesake Sebastian Keynes, a giant tortoise who lives in Galapagos National Park. This is Skandar’s first trip to the region. Fans can “friend” Sebastian on Facebook and track him on the Galapagos Tortoise Project‘s website. Lonesome George, a clothing company, supports this project with their Sebastian T-shirt. The image on the right shows Skandar wearing one.

Skandar is the great-great-great-grandson of natural scientist Charles Darwin (1809-1882), who posited the theory of evolution in his book On the Origin of Species (1859) after visiting the Galapagos. Skandar’s father Randal Keynes is a noted author, speaker, and conservationist. His book Annie’s Box: Darwin, His Daughter, and Human Evolution (2001) inspired the film “Creation” (2009), starring Paul Bettany and Jennifer Connelly as Charles and Emma Darwin. Randal has visited the Galapagos often in the past few years. Fans can read his Project Noah blog post, written to celebrate Darwin’s 204th birthday.

The Galapagos, an archipelago of volcanic islands, is situated in the Pacific Ocean west of Ecuador in South America. Although synonymous with evolution and atheism, the Galapagos Islands contain a strong creation-believing Christian presence. Some Christian scientists have explored creation evidence on these islands. See the links below. My friend John Feezell conducts the Chattanooga-based Tabernacle Praise Band, which performed at the Darwin Center in the Galapagos in 2006.

Please (fast and) pray for Skandar on his first trip to the Galapagos. Pray he will reject the lie of evolution and receive the truth of creation. Pray God will reveal himself to Skandar. Also follow “Pray for Narnia” on Facebook for updates.
